The Community Development Authority tried to mediate a compromise to tackle the problem but the wife refused to return to her husband.
"The husband has been jobless… he divorced his wife just because she refused to buy him a car… it is the strangest divorce case I have ever seen in my career," said Fatima Al Shibani, head of the family affairs at the Authority.
She told Alroya Arabic language daily that the Authority has been involved in the case to find a solution but added that the wife is still refusing to return to him.
"Unfortunately, husbands do not realize the repercussions of the divorce on them and on their children… some of them just divorce their wives for very trifle reasons."
